Lorain Rainey

Lorain Bona Rainey, age 62, of North Concord, VT, passed away at the Vibra Hospital in Springfield, MA, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, following a long period of declining health.

She was born on December 16, 1953 the third child of Lawrence and Ester Bona of Concord, VT.  Lorain attended the Concord Schools graduating from Concord High School.  She received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Johnson State College.  Lorain taught one year at the St. Johnsbury Center School; rather than continuing to teach she went on to work at Maple Grove Farms creating the Maple Groves tour catalog in the 1980s.  After leaving Maple Grove she worked at Greenfield Industries in Lyndonville until 2005.  Lorain was a Lister for the Town of Concord, Vermont for 32 years- where she respected and enjoyed working with the other town officers.

Lorain was predeceased by her father and one sister, Susan.  Survivors include her mother: Ester Bona, a sister: Loretta and her husband, Jeff Whitehead, and a brother: George Bona; nephews: Chad Whitehead of St. Johnsbury and Lance Whitehead of Hopkinton, NH; nephew: Jay Bona of Concord, VT and niece: Joy Atherton of Westford, VT.

Lorain was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with family, and celebrating the Christmas season.  Her love of nature and animals was evident through caring of pets, bird watching, and knowledge of plants and flowers.  Lorain’s kind heart and soul allowed her coworkers, friends, and family to know they were valued.  Her spirit will forever be with her loving family and friends.
