Lois Jones

Lois J. Jones, age 82, of Church Street in Peacham, VT passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on August 16, 2017.

Lois was born on September 5, 1934, in Stamford, CT, daughter to Harold and Lillian ( Michaels) Fredette. She was raised and educated in Stamford. In 1954, she married Paul Francis Jones with whom she spent 44 years as wife and homemaker until his death in 1998. She also worked as a caregiver. After Paul’s death, Lois moved to Crestwood Drive in St. Johnsbury, VT. She then met Elwin Cross. They became special companions, enjoying their time together until Elwin’s passing.  Just recently, Lois moved to Peacham Community Housing in Peacham.

Lois was an avid reader.  She liked knitting and crocheting and loved to go to Senior Meals in West Burke.  She was also quite fond of her cat, Honey.

She is survived by her children, two sons: Michael Jones of Peacham, VT and Brian Jones and his wife, Jolene, of East Concord, VT; two daughters: Cindy Berwick and her husband, Jeff, of Peacham, VT and Kathy Mortensen of Littleton, CO; a brother: Richard Fredette of Utah; 8 grandchildren: Yvette Pinette and her significant other, Tim Fiske, Cody Berwick and his fiancée, Megan Gray, Cassie Berwick and her fiancée, Ben Pasquino, Jenny Mortensen, Katie Crandall and her husband, Steve, Tadd Wheeler and his wife, Ashley, Hannah Jones, and Daniel Jones; four great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; her special friend: Ruth Cole; and Terri Norway who was like a daughter to her.

Lois was predeceased by her husband: Paul Jones; her parents: Harold and Lillian Fredette; a daughter: Linnae Wheeler; a grandson: Aaron Jones; and her loving companion: Elwin Cross.

A service officiated by Fr. Bernie Gaudreau will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at 2 PM at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Friends may call on the family on Monday, August 21, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM at Sayles Funeral Home.

Burial will be Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11 AM at the Danville Green Cemetery in Danville, VT.
