Linda Niles of St. Johnsbury, longtime St. Johnsbury Farmer's Market vendor, passed away of cancer on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016. She was 62.
She was born in St. Johnsbury on March 10, 1953, the daughter of Edward and Dorine (Gilbert) Roy.
Linda was a local artisan specializing in molten glass blowing and specialty wood carvings and had been a faithful vendor at the St. Johnsbury Farmer's Market since its inception. She was a member of Kingdom Hall-Lyndonville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was an animal lover. Linda loved anything having to do with the outdoors. Spending time with her grandson Dylan, doing fun things like swimming, fishing, hiking and kayaking were among her favorite pastimes. Traveling over to Portland, Maine with family to be on the ocean was probably where she felt most at home.
She is survived by her mother Dorine Colbeth of St. Johnsbury; 3 children: son David Roy, son Chad Roy and wife Kristina of St. Johnsbury, daughter April Niles of St. Johnsbury; her grandchildren: Dylan Niles; Eli, Eden and Solstice Barrett; Andrew Bengston; brother Bruce Roy and two sisters: Carol Placey and Carmen Houghton; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Lyndonville this Saturday, March 5, at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall near the southern I-91 interchange.
Given her love of her cats, memorial contributions could be sent to Kingdom Animal Shelter, PO Box 462, St. Johnsbury VT 05819.
