St. Johnsbury, VT: Lillian Marie Clouatre (LaPerle), age 90, passed away on Saturday morning, February 3, 2024, in the comfort of her home in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Lillian was born in St. Johnsbury on October 3, 1933, daughter to the late William and Aimee (Vaillancourt) LaPerle. She grew up in St. Johnsbury and graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1953 and was the valedictorian of her class. She remained in St. Johnsbury and worked for the Metropolitan Insurance Company before marrying her husband Alex on November 28, 1959 and then assisted him with operating the East End Market and Alex Clouatre Realty. Lillian was very active at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was an excellent homemaker to her family often hosting large family gatherings.
Lillian is survived by her son Timothy and his wife Tausha (Veilleux), brother-in-law Francis Clouatre and wife Suzanne of Scarborough ME. and numerous nieces and nephews as well as her primary caregiver Heather Willard.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Joseph R. Alexis Clouatre in 2017, and her brothers Roland LaPerle, Leo LaPerle, Oliver LaPerle, Silva LaPerle, infant Rosaire LaPerle, and sisters Jeannette Roy, Lucille Mason, Theresa Larose, Marie Champoux, Blanche Barthe, sister-in-law Rollande Irvine as well as their spouses.
Friends may call on the family from 5-7PM Wednesday February 7th at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Winter Street in St. Johnsbury with Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on St. Johns Street.
The family would like to thank all of the very wonderful caregivers Jody Sylvain, Debbie Peck, Melissa Sargent, Matthew Amadon, Suzannah Smith, Priscilla Messier and Marion Veilleux who provided excellent assistance to allow Mom to remain in her home over the past several years. We would also like to thank Ben Warstler at Dan Wyand PT and Associates who kept Mom moving over the past years.
