It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Wood, a beloved woman, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Kim came into this world with a heart full of love, giving herself freely to others and touching the lives of many. She will be fondly remembered for her empathy, compassion, and relentless care for both people and furry creatures throughout her life.
She graduated from Hartford High School in 1978. Kim spent several cherished years as both a camper and counselor at Camp Sentinel. Her love for the arts saw her involvement with the St. Johnsbury Players where she directed "Jesus Christ Superstar" twice, and where she also unabashedly proclaimed herself the "Acid Queen" in "Tommy." Kim's passion for music and dance was unmatched; no doubt she will be remembered as the best air guitarist in the NEK!
Kimberly's fierce love was matched by her fierce spirit. A 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, she competed in national events, demonstrating her strength and determination. Her professional life was equally devoted to caring for others, working at Home Health and Hospice for 31 years, where she formed deep bonds with both her patients and colleagues.
In 2013, Kimberly found a new avenue for helping others by joining the St. Johnsbury Elks Lodge #1343. She quickly became an integral part of the community, rising to the position of Exalted Ruler in 2018. Her leadership continued as she served as District Deputy in 2022 and 2023, and recently completed a five-year tenure as Lodge Trustee. She was also a dedicated member of the Silver Towers camp committee for six years.
Kimberly is predeceased by her parents, Virginia and Clayton Wood, and her sister, Sandra Dion. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses: Nancy and Ron LaCroix, Clayton and Sheryl Wood, Brian Wood and Kimberly Vitagliano Wood. She leaves behind her children: son Jeremy Beck and partner Jodi Bult, daughter Melissa Maynard and her husband Josh Maynard, and stepsons Levi Norton and Ira Norton and partner Emma Mason. She was a loving grandmother to Ethan, Ryan, Jaxon, Cameron, and Carson, and cherished her many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her "chosen family."
Kim’s last adventure in this life included fulfilling a bucket list item of going to visit the Grand Canyon with her best friend and sister Nancy.
Kimberly's legacy of love, compassion, and fierce spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
There will be an Elks memorial service at the Littleton Elks 42 Main Street Bethlehem, NH on Saturday, June 22nd at 12:30pm followed by a celebration of life beginning at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend both events. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Kim’s name either to Silver Towers or to Northeast Kingdom Cancer Action Network (NEKCAN).
