Katherine Ruth Hooker, 80, of Walden, passed away early Friday morning, April 5, 2019 at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Katherine was born in Lancaster, NH on December 10, 1938, to the late Kenneth and Margaret (Hutchinson) Nunn. She was raised in Peacham and attended local schools, graduating from the Peacham Academy with the Class of 1956. On May 29, 1959, she married Maurice A. Hooker and shared nearly 60 years together. Katherine and Maurice moved to Walden in 1979 and raised their family there; she worked as a seamstress, initially making her children’s clothes and then continued the work for over 30 years. She liked horse racing, especially watching the Kentucky Derby, reading, baking, listening to old country music and kept an extensive flower garden of which she and her family were very proud.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Maurice of Walden; three sons: Dale (Marrie Dawn Gilpin) of Barre City, Roger (Lisa Corrow) of Walden, and Rodney of Walden; her daughter: Ruth Hooker of Berlin; brothers: Melvin Nunn (Linda) of Groton, Raymond Nunn of Concord, NH, Theodore ‘Hank’ Nunn of Burlington, and James ‘Jimmy’ Nunn (Rena) of Lyndonville; sisters: Lois Burnham (Welston) of Marshfield, Juanita Nunn of Calais, and Evelyn Larcomb of West Danville; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Williams of Concord,VT, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Pearson of Lyndonville; and Eunice Skinner (Richard) of Concord; brothers-in-law: Leslie Hooker (Teala) of St. Johnsbury, Leon Hooker of Monroe, NH, Ronald Hooker (Claire) of St. Johnsbury, Allen Hooker Jr. of Danville and Lee Hooker of Concord; as well as two aunts, one uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Katherine is predeceased by her sister Louise Bashaw.
Graveside services, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Potter, will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00am at the Peacham Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Caledonia Home Health Care and Hospice, 161 Sherman Drive, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
