Joseph Francis Gibbons, Jr., age 86, of Danville, Vermont, passed away peacefully at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center on January 31, 2017.
Joseph was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 1, 1930, oldest son of Dr. Joseph Gibbons, Sr. and Helene (McDonald) Gibbons. He was raised and educated in Brookline and Westwood, MA and graduated from Norfolk Agricultural High School. He worked as assistant General Manager of Lost Brook Golf Course. Coming from Westwood, MA and Ashby, MA, he joined family in Danville, VT in 2015.
Most of all, Joseph enjoyed family gatherings…playing cribbage, games of all sorts, and rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots. He also loved caring for his foxhounds and horses and became quite an accomplished equestrian.
Joe was a kind and gentle soul who added much joy to family life in a quiet reserved sort of way. His presence will be sorely missed.
He is survived by two sisters: Ann (Gibbons) Halstead of Danville, VT, and Mary E. Gibbons of Ashby, MA; a brother: Paul Gibbons of Vero Beach, Florida and Wellesley, MA; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Helene Gibbons; a sister: Helene Dunn; and two brothers: William P. Gibbons and Peter Gibbons.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Massachusetts.
