John Paul Daigneault, 35, of Brookfield, Vt., passed away at his home on April 2, 2018. John grew up in Passumpsic, Vt. with his family until recent years when he moved to Brookfield to start another chapter or his life and make himself his own family.
He is survived by his partner Sandy Schmitt, children Corbin and Nadine Daigneault, his parents Judy and Paul Daigneault, brother Aaron Daigneault and his partner Becky Schoenemann and nieces and nephews Carly and Rachel Daigneault, Zach and Nate Poole and countless family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Daigneault, grandparents Gerard and Judy Daigneault and P. Clifton and Irene Kinerson.
John graduated from the St. Johnsbury Academy in 2001 and then continued his education at Wyoming Technical Institute. While still living in the Northeast Kingdom, John decided it was time to begin a new adventure with the Vermont Army National Guard. John served his country proudly oversees in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom from 2005 to 2010.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed everything he did. He loved hunting the elusive whitetail, he enjoyed fishing on a lake, on a pond and even on ice. He enjoyed his pickup trucks, his chainsaws, his snowmobiles, collecting sap and boiling in the sugar shack and he even enjoyed his work. He was employed for many years at JA McDonald where he truly loved working. He enjoyed the work, he enjoyed the people and he enjoyed the camaraderie that he found there.
For the past 5 years he made another new adventure for himself at the Agency of Transportation in the Materials Lab. He made so many new friends that weren’t just co-workers, they were family.
He was a strong and brave man, he was a happy person, he loved to talk and no matter who you were, he liked you too. He always had jokes for you, he always wanted you to laugh and he would try and try until he got ya. His sense of humor was sarcastic but always appreciated. He will be missed by all who knew him. Bonfires will never be the same without his jokes, inappropriate comments, infectious laugh, handsome smile and bright blue eyes.
A celebration of life was held at the VFW at 527 US Route 302 in East Barre, Vermont on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. A graveside service, officiated by Fr. Bernard Gaudreau, will be held in the spring on Saturday, May 12, 2018, 1PM, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on St. Johns Street, St. Johnsbury, VT with military honors. There will be a light luncheon following at the Elks in St. Johnsbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Corbin and Nadine at the Passumpsic Bank under Judith Daigneault, “John’s Kids,” P.O. Box 38, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819-9987.
