On Friday, March 16, Jack Harrison Dempsey DeKoeyer, loving family man and partner, successful businessman, and proud veteran, died at that age of 90. Jack was a long-time resident of Franconia, New Hampshire.
Jack was born on July 21, 1927, in Clifton, New Jersey, to the late James and Catherine (Boone) DeKoeyer. He served in the Navy during World War II and married the late Mary Louise Garrison in September 1949. They were later divorced in February 1979.
In 1982, Jack launched a successful business with his son, Michael, and his long-time partner, Inge Gray. He loved animals, hunting and fishing, and chocolate ice cream. Some of his fondest memories and best stories were of his favorite dog, Jake.
Jack was predeceased by his brothers, John (d. 1951), Clarence “Bob” (d. 1977), James (d. 1987), and Edward (d. 1994); his daughter, Jacqueline (d. 1960); his son, Jack Kyle (d. 2011); and his grandson, Seth Ely (d. 2009). He is survived by his partner, Inge Gray; eight children: Cindy (Casey) Rodd, Lisa DeKoeyer (Joseph Miller), Mark (Sheri) DeKoeyer, Patricia (Jason Robinson) DeKoeyer, Michele (Lasse) Moen, Michael (Michelle Travis) DeKoeyer, Susan Caldwell, Carol Ann Osterhout DeKoeyer Keys; ten grandchildren: Chelsea Morris, Jackie (Thomas) Fox, Joseph Nagle, River DeKoeyer, Shon Jepsen, Sara (Wilmer) Rodriguez, Lauren Travis, Tracy (David) Frey, Christopher Ely, and Micah Ely; and many great-grandchildren.
The family will celebrate Jack’s life at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, from 2-4PM on April 14, 2018. Friends and family are welcome. Following the gathering all are welcome to join the family at the VFW on Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury.
