West Burke, VT: Irene Marie Richardson, age 82, of Sugarhouse Road, passed away at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, VT, February 25, 2025.

Irene was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on July 12, 1942, daughter to the late Alexander Joseph and Lucille Antoinette (Laitres) Cormier. She grew up in St. Johnsbury living most all her life in the Northeast Kingdom community. Irene worked as a cook at NVRH for over 40 years. She had a passion for cooking, ensuring no one ever left her home hungry. She cherished family gatherings during Christmas holidays and cookouts, where she delighted in watching her great-grandchildren and spending time with her grandchildren, who were her true pride and joy. Irene raised her grandchildren, providing them with love and guidance. She took great pride in her home adorning it with flowers and plants throughout the seasons. 

Her favorite pastimes included fishing, swimming in her pool or at the Kiwanis during her youth, playing bingo, watching game shows and old westerns and trying her luck at penny slots in the casinos. She also enjoyed knitting, listening to country music, and spending cherished moments at her camp on Baker Pond.

She is survived by her daughter: Cindy Oxendine and her husband Tony of West Burke, VT, her sister: Sylvia James also of West Burke, 3 grandchildren: Robert Bousquet III and his wife Jillian of Glover, VT, Thomas Bousquet and his wife Ayla of Morrisville, VT, Selina Thomsen and her husband Kaj of Winterport, ME, 4 great- grandchildren: Benjamin, Matthew, Christopher, Elna and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son: Frederick Allen Richardson, her sister: Viola Cormier, her granddaughter: Ashley Jensen and step-mother: Madeline Ward Cormier.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville, VT. Friends are welcome to visit with family at any time throughout.

The burial will take place in the spring at Mt. Calvary Cemetery and will be announced at a later time.
