Henry Norman Lamont, age 92, of Morses Mill Road, passed away peacefully at his home, Thursday, June 16, 2016.
Henry was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on May 18, 1924, the eighth and last surviving of nine children to John Peter and Mary Estelle (Dussault) Lamothe. He was a lifelong resident of St. Johnsbury growing up on Bible Hill. Henry was deferred by the U.S. Army to stay and run the family farm. He married Rebecca Malora (Ellsworth) on New Year’s Day 1943 and shared 61 years together when she passed in 2002. Henry was a hard worker and very mechanically inclined. For over 40 years he was employed at Fairbanks Scales as a crane and forklift operator. He also assisted in building Moore Dam, drove truck for Twin State Fruit three days a week and continued to run the family farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and sharing time with his children and grandchildren.
Henry was a beloved father of nine children and survivors include: Peter Lamont (Stephanie Patachristos) of Attleboro, ME, David Lamont of Doral, FL, Paul Lamont (Diane) of St. Johnsbury, Norman Lamont of Danville, Daniel Lamont (Tiffany Verboncoeur) of Walden, VT, Priscilla Lamont of Ormond Beach, FL, Belinda Gibbs (Gary) of St. Johnsbury, Janice Pond (Joe Sicely) of West Thompson, VT, Janet Bunnell (Edward) of Concord, VT, 22 grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 special people: Kelly Bunnell, wife of grandson, Bruce, and Brian Young, husband of granddaughter, Samantha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, on Winter Street in St. Johnsbury, with Rev. Fr. Chris Micale as celebrant. Burial will follow immediately at the Danville Green Cemetery.
Friends may call on the family from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM on Monday, June 20th at the Sayles Funeral Home on Summer Street.
