Helen Reed

June 8, 1926 — November 17, 2016

Helen Toussaint Reed, formerly of Spaulding Road in St. Johnsbury, VT, passed away at the Pine Health & Rehab in Lyndonville, on November 17, 2016. She had resided at the Canterbury Inn for two years until October.

Helen was born in North Westminster, VT, on June 8, 1926, daughter to the late Gideon Joseph and Keitha Jennie (Hosmer) Toussaint.  She grew up in that area graduating from Bellows Falls High School in the Class of 1944.  She married Willard “Will” Elmer Reed on August 10, 1946 and has lived in the St. Johnsbury area since that time.  She was employed at Northern Pike in Littleton for over 10 years when she retired in 1988. Helen was a past member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, the Civil Air Patrol in St. J, Order of the Eastern Star Adah Chapter #39 and the Women’s Shiner’s Mt. Sinai Temple, enjoying serving in all chairs over time. She enjoyed making crafts, traveling, hunting, skiing, fishing, canoeing, boating, camping and anything outdoors.

Helen is survived by her son: Delbert Reed and wife, Jacquelyn, of East Haven, VT, a brother: Gordon Toussaint and wife, Irene, of Bellows Falls, VT, 2 sisters: Marie Wescott of Cambridgeport, VT, and Lucille Montegue of Portsmouth, NH, a sister-in-law: Joyce Caton of E. Hartford, CT, 3 grandchildren: Adam Reed of Kalispell, MT, Michael Reed and wife, Rebecca of Sunderland, MD, Travis Reed and wife, Susie of Sheffield, VT, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Will Reed, her brother: Ludger Toussaint.

Friends may call on the family from 6-8PM Friday, December 9, 2016, at the Guibord Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville, VT.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday the 10th at the Funeral Home, with burial at the Concord Cemetery in the Spring.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Canterbury Inn Activities Fund, 46 Cherry Street, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
