Grace Astle of the Peacham Rd. in Danville passed away at home Saturday evening, Jan. 24, 2015 at the age of 88.
She was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on Feb. 24, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Lillian Phillips. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Astle, her son Wayne Bassett, her former husband Milton Bassett, sister Ethel Snarsky, brother Wallace Phillips, and a niece June Liolias.
Grace worked over thirty years at Fairbanks Scales; she and husband Rob enjoyed the company's many social events throughout the years. They did a lot of traveling after their retirement. She was active in the Danville Senior Meals Site, the Chat and Chew club, and in the Danville snowmobiling club. Over the years she enjoyed her many beloved pets.
Grace had so many friends and good neighbors who were concerned for her well-being to whom her family is very grateful.
She is survived by daughter Bonnie Bassett of Kirby; two grandchildren: Denise Buck and husband John of Waterford, Matthew Bassett and wife Lindsay of Danville; 3 great-grandchildren: Josh, Jourdan and Delaney; also her daughter-in-law Nancy Bassett.
Services will be held in Danville Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at 2 pm at the Danville Congregational Church with the Rev. Douglas Carter officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Danville Green Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
