Gertrude 'Trudy' Turner

Gertrude Simone “Trudy” Turner, age 83, formerly of Fenoff Circle, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center on Thursday, July 20, 2017 and has been surrounded in the recent weeks by her family and many dear friends.

Trudy was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, on October 16, 1933, daughter to the late Leo J. and Marie Louise (Poliquin) Donna.  She was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from Mt. St. Joseph with the Class of 1952.  On June 18, 1955 she married Robert Henry Turner and shared 61 years together when he passed on July 6, 2016. Trudy raised her family at home, worked at Desrochers Pharmacy and Hovey’s Shoe Store and later became a teacher’s aide with the St. Johnsbury School District for about 20 years. After retiring she found joy in volunteering at St. J Health & Rehab for over 20 years.

Trudy loved her Savior Jesus.  This love spilled over into her care for family and friends, and people who knew her often stopped by or called and asked for her to pray for them.

She greatly enjoyed the outdoors; walking, gardening, watching and feeding creatures that came in the yard.

Trudy is survived by her daughter: Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Lutter and husband Clyde of Gaithersburg, Maryland; her son: Mark Turner and wife Cindy of St. Johnsbury; four grandchildren: Timothy and Joshua Lutter, Sarah and Justin Turner; her sister: Dorothy Lynaugh of St. Johnsbury, brother-in-law: Reginal Leonard; her brother: Normand Donna and wife, Susan, of Florida; her sister-in-law: Sarah Donna, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 3 brothers: Claude, Roger and Robert Donna; a sister: Gemma Chaloux and her husband, Gerald Chaloux.

Friends may call on the family from 6-8PM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held in St. Johnsbury at 2PM on Sunday, July 23, 2017 with the Rev. Kirk Thompson officiating.
