Gertrude A. Renaud of St. Johnsbury passed away at The Canterbury Inn on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the age of 102.
She was born in St. Johnsbury on May 26, 1913, one of eight children born to Ernest J. and Leonide (Fradet) Cote. Gert was first of all a homemaker for her family raising her two boys; she worked at a dress factory in Nashua and St. Johnsbury, was the Hostess at the St. J. House, made quilts for all her family members, enjoyed sewing, knitting and absolutely loved watching golf. She was a faithful member of Corpus Christie Parish and was on the parish prayer chain.
She is survived by two sons: Robert E. Renaud and wife Catherine of Atlanta, Georgia, Norman Renaud and wife Jennifer of Lakeland, FL; 4 grandchildren: Steven Renaud (Teresa) of Charleston, SC, Wendy Hildebrand (Mike) of Charleston, SC, Stephanie Reneberg of Coco Beach, FL, Sean Renaud of Newnan, GA, 7 great-grandchildren, her sister Jeannette Emmons of St. Johnsbury, Bernie Jordan of St. Johnsbury who was her beloved niece and caregiver for many years, and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by: her siblings: Alcide, Robert, Louis, Leo and Alban Cote, Rita Mancini, and her grandson: Bradley Renaud,
Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home on Monday, April 25, from 6-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Johnsbury on Tuesday, April 26, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church on Winter Street in St. Johnsbury with Fr. Bernard Gaudreau. Burial will immediately follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
