Gerald Burnham, Jr

July 15, 1950 — June 18, 2015

Gerald "Jerry" Burnham of Waterford, and formerly of Danville, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the age of 64.
He was born in St. Johnsbury on July 15, 1950, the son of Gerald, Sr., and Alice (Bryer) Burnham. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy.
A skilled self-trained carpenter, Jerry was proud of the many decks, lawn extensions and structures he built for his homes in Danville and Waterford. He is remembered by many as the coach of Danville youth baseball, and helped form a regional little league in the 1980s so that his sons and other children in North Country communities could play baseball. He went on to umpire area baseball games, a pursuit he enjoyed greatly.
For many years Jerry ran his own business, Carpet Care, before later embarking upon a successful second career as a Manager at Cabot Creamery and Maple Grove. For the past few years he enjoyed driving people to and from medical appointments with RCT. A highlight of recent years for him was his summer vacations in Maine with his wife Cornelia.
Jerry was known for his outgoing personality and sharp sense of humor. He had a great love for fishing, instilling in his children an appreciation of the beauty of a quiet morning on the Connecticut River, the joys of catching a native brown trout in Joe's Brook and the Passumpsic River, or teaching them how to skip stones in Keiser Pond when the fish weren't biting.
Jerry spent many happy years of his childhood in Passumpsic with the late Doris and Fred Wright, who taught him how to fish along the Water Andric and play baseball. Skills he would later pass on to his own children.
He is survived by his wife Cornelia of Waterford; his mother Alice Burnham of St. Johnsbury; three children: Scott Burnham and wife Maria Salvatierra of Waltham, Massachusetts, Jason Burnham and Shelby Pike of Framingham, Massachusetts, Kelly Burnham and Stephen Butler of Manchester, England; Cornelia's son Christopher Tatro and Meagan Yetsko; and the mother of his three children, Sharon Burnham of Danville.
The family observed their services privately.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, 1 National Life Drive, Davis 2, Montpelier, Vermont 05620-3702
