Gerald "Jay Lee" Berg, age 64, of Dunn Mountain Road, passed away at his home Monday night, November 23, 2015, from a heart attack.
Jay Lee, a Native American of the Sioux Nation, was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on March 15, 1951, son to the late Aldon Ivan and Frances Mae (Hempel) Berg. . He grew up in North Dakota and Minnesota and enlisted into the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He lived in Florida for many years working as a Marine Technician and continued after moving to the area working for Newport Marine Services. Jay Lee loved sailing, nature and followed his Native American culture. He was a very giving person who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra K. (Gaskins) Berg, sharing 29 years together; his son, Ryan Berg, of Columbia Falls, MT; his step-daughters: Jennifer Fox and her husband, Bill, of Cromwell, KY, Rebecca Bowden and her husband, Bobby, of Lakeland, FL, his step-son: Ronnie Hutto of Mulberry, FL, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services or calling hours at his request. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
