George Urie

George Urie of Waterford, VT passed away suddenly and peacefully, Friday January 5, 2018 at the age of 82.

He was born in Passumpsic VT, on December 30, 1935.  His mother and father were Georgia and Arthur Urie.  He is survived by three sisters Betty Bunnell of Barnet, Janet Goodwin of Lyndonville and Susan Bean of Dalton, NH.  He is predeceased by his brothers, Bernard Urie and James Urie.

George was married to Marilyn True Urie in May 1958, who also predeceased him in July 2006. Marilyn was the love of his life.  George graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in June 1955 and then went to serve his country in Dover Delaware.   George worked many years at Fairbanks Scales but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, playing cards and being an active member of the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church.

George is survived by three children, Karen Thompson and husband Ernie Thompson and granddaughters Becky and Julie Thompson of Sheffield VT, Brian Urie of Bristol, NH and Brenda Mammoliti and husband Michael of Vergennes, VT.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The Passumpsic Community Baptist Church, PO Box 126, Passumpsic VT 05861.  These contributions will go towards and renovations and or other improvement projects of the church or parsonage.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church on RT5 with Rev. Steven Clark officiating. There will be no Calling Hours.

Memories and condolences may be shared privately with the family at the Passumpsic Community Baptist Church before the funeral service and also after the service.

A private ceremony will be in the spring at the Passumpsic Cemetery.
