George Bennett

George Arthur Bennett, age 92, passed away at the Grafton County Nursing Home in Haverhill, NH, Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
George was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on November 22, 1924, son to the late Arthur and Marie (Beauregard) Bennett. He was raised and educated here in St. Johnsbury. He served stateside in the U.S. Army during WWII. George was the store manager at Hovey’s Thrift Shop for many years and enjoyed selling and collecting antiques, loved flowers and spending time at his cottage on Joe’s Pond. He was a member of St. John’s Church and very devoted to his family.
He is survived by his nephew: Stephen R. Bennett and his wife, Roseanna, of St. Johnsbury, his niece: Linda Stokes of Peacham, his sister-in-law: Rejeanne Bennett of St. Johnsbury, grand-nieces & nephews: Lauren, Robert, Christopher, Nicole, Matthew, Jocelyn, Ryan, Andrew & Christine. He was predeceased by a brother: Robert Bennett and nephew: Michael Bennett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday, January 9, 2017, at St. John’s Church on Winter Street in St. Johnsbury with Rev. Curtis Miller as celebrant.
Committal will be held in the spring at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury.
