Geneva Harris

Geneva Caroline Fox Harris, age 93, of Lyndon Center, Vermont, passed away at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation Center Friday morning May 13, 2016, follow a period of declining health.

Geneva was born in Newark, VT, on June 30, 1922, daughter to the late Dennis Warren and Anna S. (Skinner) Fox.  She was raised in Newark and lived on the Harris Family Homestead since 1946. It was on April 14, 1945, that she married Derby Theodore Harris and shared 54 years together when he passed in 1979.  She was the head cook at the Darling Inn, was a caregiver to Mrs. Hopkins and several others and also worked at Burndy’s.  She was a former Cub Scout Leader, was a member of the Lyndon Center Baptist Church, and past member of the United Women’s Club of Lyndon, VFW Auxiliary Post #38 of Lyndonville and Lyndon Historical Society.  She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, working and walking in the woods and her gardens.

She is survived by 4 sons: Bruce Harris of Lyndon Center, Thomas Harris (Pauline) also of Lyndon Center, Stephen Harris (Louise) of E. Burke, Matthew Harris of Sheffield, her daughter Brenda Demetrules (Ralph Caldwell) of Sutton, VT, her step-son: Phillip Harris(Lucille) of Springfield, MA, a special cousin: Raeia Maes of NY, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by 4 brothers: Warren, Harland, Paul and Merton Fox.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Guibord Funeral Home on the corner of Main and Central Street in Lyndonville.  Burial will follow at the Lyndon Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10-11AM the Wednesday morning prior to services at the funeral home.
