Frederick Hall

Frederick W. Hall, 95, of Lyndon Center, passed away on March 20, 2025, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Fred was born on April 1, 1929, in Waterford to Henry Hall and Helen Burns. He was a lifelong resident of the Northeast Kingdom, graduating from Danville High School before beginning various lines of work, including a long career at Vermont Tap & Die as a Machinist. He married Sherry Gilman in 1976, sharing many happy years together at their home on Gilman Road in Lyndon Center.

Fred was a quiet man with a heart of gold. He loved to keep busy and spent many hours farming, on his tractor haying, in the sugar house, or in his workshop doing carpentry work. He enjoyed fishing, although he much preferred being on dry land as opposed to the water! He was also known for being quite a jokester. Fred’s good luck may have come from his ability to walk across any patch of grass and pick a bouquet of four-leaf clovers. Above all, Fred valued his family and friendships more than anything. If a friend was in trouble, they could count on Fred to be there for them. He lit up every time there were babies or children around and he enjoyed spending time with them. Many in the community will remember Fred sitting on his porch in his later years, waving to neighbors as they went by. Fred would want everyone to remember, as he always said, “Do not take any wooden nickels!”

Fred is survived by his beloved wife Sherry Hall; children Todd (Lisa) Hall, Jan Prinn, Stacy (Melissa) Hall, and Lori Dodge; son-in-law Stephen Prinn, siblings Gaylon and Madeleine; grandchildren Trentin Hall, Ali Prinn, Jacob Dodge, Garrett (Rayne) Dodge, Baylee Dodge, and Ashley Mohring; great-grandchildren Tristan and Trevor McCarty, and Avery Dodge; close friends Paul (Evie) Charron and David (Rena) Stahler; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Bob Hall.

Friends may call on the family on April 1, 2025, Fred’s birthday, from 4-6pm at Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Lyndonville, VT. Burial will be held on May 19, 2025, at 1pm at Lyndon Center Cemetery.
