Evelyn Boardman

Evelyn Boardman, 80, of Ryegate Road in East Ryegate, Vt, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsbury, Vt.

Evelyn was born in Clay County, Kentucky on February 8, 1938, to Churchill and Flora (Smith) Smith. She attended local schools.  In 1957, Evelyn married Raymond Hatley. They shared 16 years together until Raymond’s death in 1973.  In 1979, Evelyn discovered love again and married Gerald Boardman, sharing 27 years with him until his death in 2006.  Evelyn lived in Waterford and Passumpsic before settling in East Ryegate in 2002.

Evelyn was a homebody. She enjoyed taking care of her lawns and flower beds, taking great pride in them looking prefect, and her house. She loved Sheltie dogs and had taken care of several over the years.  She also liked taking drives with her friend and caregiver, Wayne Page.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter: Darlene Jewell and husband, Sean, of St. Johnsbury, Vt; two sisters: Lattie Joyce Smith of E. Bernstadt, KY, and Genetta Green of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren: Ashley and Megan Jewell; and her good friend and caregiver: Wayne Page of Ryegate, Vt.

She was predeceased by her first husband: Raymond Hatley and her second husband: Gerald Boardman.

A Graveside Service officiated by Rev. Stephen Clark will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10AM at Monroe Cemetery on Plain Road in Monroe, NH.
