Ernestine Comeau passed away peacefully at her Lyndonville home on July 8th, 2015 with her family by her side. Ernestine Howland was born on January 3, 1924 , the daughter of the late Saloma Leighton and John Howland.
She married Joseph Comeau on September 9, 1941 and moved to Nashua, NH where she worked in a Textile Mill. In the late 1940s they moved to Lunenburg, Vt. She worked at Henshel Shoe Shop and Connor's & Hoffman Footwear in Littleton, NH.; then at Burndy Corp.
She loved butterflies, flowers and birds, especially Cardinals. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel and racing. She was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt & Dale Jr. Thank you, Dale Jr., for winning this last Sunday's race! She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee and listening to country music.
She is survived by 9 children: Gene Comeau, Patricia Parks, Wayne and wife Pam Comeau, Lucien Comeau and companion Melody Twombley, Gloria Gammell, Linda Brown, Barbara Grant and companion David Adamuska, Donna Payette and Robin Larocque and her husband Scott.
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren: Danny Comeau, Diane Peyton and husband, Jim, Jeannine Porter and her husband, Keith, Teresa Switzer and husband Stan, Pam Parks, Dean Parks, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, Karen Brown, Scott Comeau and companion Angela, Bethany Gammell and companion Aaron Jenkins, Kevin Sargent and companion Melissa, David Sargent and companion Christine Riendeau, John Brown and wife Renee, Peter Brown and companion Yuka Yamashita, Deanna Peck and her husband Richard, Melissa Grant and companion Shawn Fresia, Lukas Payette and companion Lynsi Degree, Angela Cummings and companion John Hurd, Corrinne Payette and companion Erik Raftery, Michael Larocque, Joe Larocque, 30 great grandchildren: Wyatt, Venessa, Seth, Molly, Meghan & Megan, Jessie, John, Ben, Nick, Emilee, Natilee, Brenna, Kalie, Abbey, Cody, Will, Nathan, Gavin, Madison, Johnathan, Logan, Emily, Elizabeth, Katy, Devin, Brandon, Cassidy, Cameron, Kimberly, 8 great-great grandchildren: Kira, Averie, Lily, Owen, Max, Taylor, Alexis, and Chelsea.
She is pre-deceased by 6 brothers: Melvin, Alvin, Paul, Jessie, Kermit and twin brother Ernest, a sister: Irene, her husband Joseph, a son David, a grandson Dennis, a granddaughter Shelley, and 2 sons-in-law: Dean Parks and Patrick Brown.
Calling hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home, located at 525 Summer Street, St. Johnsbury, Vt. on Saturday July 11th from 11:30 - 1:30 with a service to follow at 1:30PM with the Rev. Kirk Thompson officiating.
A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery located in South Lunenburg, Vt. at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Breslin Center in Lyndonville, Vt.
