West Burke, VT: Emelia Labbé Laramee, age 94, of North Main Street died on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at her home where she resided for over 70 years.
Emelia was born in Craftsbury, VT, on June 2, 1924, daughter to the late Alfred and Cordelia (Roy) Labbé. She was raised and educated in Craftsbury and East Albany, Vt and on June 20, 1944, became the wife of Armand Laramee. Together they raised 5 children. She was a proud homemaker and worked first as the head cook at the West Burke School for many years and later at the potato farm. Upon retirement she went back to the school as a volunteer. Emelia was an avid bowler, loved the outdoors, and her cats, which she lived for. When all was said and done, her family was the primary thing in her life. If she wasn’t taking care of her own kids, then it was someone else’s that Emelia would take in and feed. She was as proud of her children and grand & great-grandchildren as they were of her, and she will be dearly missed. Emelia lived a long, full and independent life, still shoveling snow and splitting her own firewood just last year.
Survivors include her 5 children: Roland Laramee and wife, Lydia, of W. Burke, VT, Richard Laramee and wife, Rae, of Glendora, CA, Jeannette Villeneuve of W. Burke, Roger and wife, Brenda, of W. Burke, Rachel Howland and husband, Terry, of Newark, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister: Rose Walters of Lyndonville, a special niece: Shirley, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in 2001 by her beloved husband of 57 years, Armand, her son-in-law John Villeneuve and 2 brothers: Joseph and Leonard Labbé.
