Eleanor Marion Lund, 83, of Lawrence Road in Waterford, VT, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
Eleanor was born May 10, 1933, in North Troy, VT, daughter to William and Mabel (Westover) Santaw. She was raised and educated in Concord, VT, graduating as Class of 1951 Valedictorian from Concord High School. In 1954, she graduated from Wayne School in Chicago, IL with a dental assistant certificate. Eleanor married Milton Lund on October 20, 1956. They enjoyed 60 years together, 35 of those years on Lawrence Road. Eleanor worked for many years at Citizens Bank. She also served as Waterford Town Auditor for many years.
Eleanor liked to travel especially to Alaska, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. She also enjoyed snow-mobiling, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking. She belonged to VAST and the Concord Historical Society.
Eleanor is survived by her husband: Milton Edward Lund of Waterford, VT; her daughter: Donna Lund and her companion, Howard Stahler, Jr., both of Waterford; a sister: Lorraine Racine of Waterford; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her mother: Mabel Houghton; her step-father: Ralph Houghton; a sister: Agnes Anderson; her father- and mother-in-law: Edward and Gladys Lund; 3 sisters-in-law: Izola Irwin, Helen Farmer, and Minnie Olson; 5 brothers-in-law: Ernest Racine, Eugene Farmer, John Irwin, Henry Lund, and Marvin Olson; and a niece: Sandra Carpenter.
A service, officiated by Ann Hockridge, will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 2pm at Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer St., St. Johnsbury, VT. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 12n-2pm at the funeral home directly preceding the service.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
