Douglas W. Stetson

Lyndonville, VT

Douglas William Stetson, Sr. passed away at his daughter's home December 16th, 2024, due to complications of heart failure. He was born in St. Johnsbury on January 8th,1950 to Paul and Betty Stetson. He grew up on the family farm in South Kirby. In 1964 the family moved to Concord, and he graduated from Concord Highschool in 1969. Doug married Patsy Carpenter of Concord in September the same year. They welcomed two children and moved to Lyndonville in 1975. He worked as a service technician for decades, was a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed driving for RCT. He made many lifelong friends weightlifting and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and beloved dogs. In the past few years, Doug developed a strong bond with his Red Village neighbors. 

He is survived by his wife: Patsy; sister: Judy and Jim Masure and family; children: Gidget and Paul Doty, Douglas Jr and Kristi Stetson; grandsons: Daniel and Erin Stetson, Gage Stetson Doty LCPL USMC; great-grandchildren: Ryeleigh and Remington Stetson: sisters-in-law: Maren Downing and family, the family of Dianne and Tony Handy, Jancie and Mike Hemond and family, Peggy and Dick Keach and family; brothers-in-law: Gene Comeau, Buzz and Deb Carpenter and family, Bob Carpenter and family, and the family of Billy Carpenter; special nephew: Danny Comeau; special bonus son: Bryan Britt; and his beloved dogs: Lilly and Elly May. 

Doug was predeceased by his parents, and in-laws George and Mary Carpenter; sister-in-law: Dianne and Tony Handy; brother-in-law: Billy Carpenter; and nephews: Dennis Comeau, Joseph Carpenter, and Tyler Keach. 

At his request, there will be no formal services, the family will scatter his ashes in the spring. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to Chief Harris for giving us an additional twelve days with Gramp that we cherish. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lyndon Rescue or an animal shelter of your choice.
