Dorothea (Dot) Marie Bevis Temple passed away on December 12, 2016, at Valley Terrace in White River Junction with her family by her side.
Dot was born in Chesterfield, NH on July 25, 1925, daughter of Shirley and Esther (Darling) Bevis. She was the oldest of six children. After graduating from Brattleboro High School in the Class of 1943 she went to work for the Holstein Association. It was during that time her brothers introduced her to Franklin (Frank) Temple. They were married December 15, 1951, and shared 60 years at the time of his passing March 5, 2012. After first living in Lancaster, NH and then East St. Johnsbury they settled on Breezy Hill Road in St. Johnsbury in the house that they built together in 1962, while raising four children.
Dot was an involved mom and grandmother, attending many dance recitals and sporting events. Frank and Dot spent time with their many friends, dancing at the Grange Hall, potluck dinners at camp and cocktail cruises around Joe’s Pond. They also loved to travel and drove all over the country.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her brownies and chocolate chip cookies and her willingness to just get in the car and go.
Dot is survived by her children Dorene (Ed) Heffernan of Occoquan, VA, Jeff (Nancy) of Rutland, Vermont and Rita (Eric) Temple Brooks of Fairlee, VT, and 5 grandchildren (Nicole Soucy, Colin and Elizabeth Temple and Tyler and Kate Murdoch) and 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter Sue, brothers Chester, Harry and David, brother-in-law Charles Lavalla and sisters-in-law Ann and Lana Bevis.
A service will be held at the Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke in the spring.
