Doris Meserve

Doris Maryjane Meserve, age 87, of Bugbee Crossing, died at the Pines Health & Rehab Center in Lyndonville, January 2, 2018, following a period of declining health.

Doris was born in Lyndonville, VT, on March 2, 1930, daughter to the late Charles Joseph and Florida Mary (Marlow) Carriere.  She was raised and educated in Burke attending Burke Graded School and then Lyndon Institute through the 10th grade after which she began working.  Doris started working for Palmer Brothers Laundry for a few years then spent over 20 years at Glovers in St. J.  From there she worked in housekeeping and laundry at the Pines in Lyndonville retiring after 24 years. Doris loved cats more than anything and had well over 15 over the years. Her nieces and nephews who were like the children she never had and she treated them as her own.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Douglas C Carriere (Diane) of St. Johnsbury Center, Sharon Sabens (Kevin) of St. Johnsbury, Peter Carriere of W. Burke, Carlene Perry (Mike LaPierre) of Troy, VT, Tony Carriere (Tammy French) of NC, a sister-in-law: Geraldine Carriere (Donald Farnsworth) of Barton, VT her cats: Midnight and Mouser and many friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years: Richard George Meserve who died in 2015, her brothers: Maurice and Alfred Carriere, a nephew: Neil Carriere and niece: Darlene Dickson.

A Graveside Funeral Service will take place in the springtime at 10AM on Monday, May 21, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Lyndonville with Fr. Curtis Miller officiating.  At the same time Military Honors will be observed for Richard Meserve with the burial of his urn also.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris’ memory can be made to the Kingdom Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 462, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
