Denny DeGreenia

Concord, VT: Denny Arthur DeGreenia, age 45, of Shadow Lake Road, died Sunday evening, December 17, 2017 in an accident on Burke Mountain while working at the job he loved so much for the past 25 years.

Denny was born on December 27, 1972, in St. Johnsbury, VT, son to Dale A DeGreenia, Sr. and Claudia A. (Christy).  He and his brother, Dale, Jr., were the first twins born at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.  He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from the Academy in the class of 1991, and was very proud to have played in the Shrine Bowl representing the Academy. Right out of high school he began working at A.D. Rossi for several summers and working the winters at Burke Mountain until a position was made to keep him year round.  On December 2, 1995, he married the former Anna Lynne Wilson and have shared over 24 years together living in their Concord home for 21 years.  Denny raced Superstock at Riverside Speedway and Thunder Road running #8.  He loved to hunt and fish and really enjoyed coaching varsity basketball at Concord High School and teaching his daughter everything he knew.  He loved loved chocolate and milk, which he drank like water sometimes; he was a real joker (often on the naughty side), and was a hard worker, typically being the first to arrive and the last one to leave.  When Denny walked into a room he filled it with his presence and stature.  He loved his family and loved being a “Papa.” Burke Mountain was his second home and he loved his work.  He made many life-long friends and positively impacted so many snowmakers in his 25 years on the mountain. Denny even buried his dog on the mountain named after his childhood idol, Hollywood Hulk Hogan.  Burke Mountain will never be the same.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, of Concord, his daughters: Kirsten E. DeGreenia-Reyes (Chris McElroy) of St. Johnsbury, Kasey M. DeGreenia (Caleb D. Harris) of Concord, his mother: Claudia A. Racine (Kevin) of Walden, VT, his father: Dale A. DeGreenia (Carol) of Danville, his brothers: Dale A. DeGreenia , Jr.  (Andrea Labor) of St. Johnsbury, Robert Racine (Donna) of Walden,  his sisters: SueAnn Christy of Walden, Tammy Sprague (Corey) of Stratford, NH, Donna Colby (Chris) of W. Burke, his in-laws: James E. Wilson, Sr. (Eileen) of Concord, his sister-in-law: Katrina Wilson of Jacksonville, FL,  2 grandchildren: Izabella M. Reyes, Izaiah E. Reyes and their father, Moises Reyes and many nieces and nephews, friend and close co-workers.

Friends may call on the family from 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street.

Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the United Community Church, 1325 Main Street, St. Johnsbury.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
