Daniel Demers

July 3, 1951 — June 25, 2018

Daniel Joseph Demers, 66, of Lyndonville, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH from a sudden medical event.

Daniel was born in Charny, Quebec, on July 3, 1951 to Jean Louis and Madeleine Gemma (Berthiaume) Demers. He was raised as a young boy in Charny until he moved to Saint Johnsbury. Daniel graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 1969, Afterwards he served in the VT National Guard. On January 15, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Barnes sharing over 46 years together. He began his working career with Rodd Roofing, then went into carpentry and worked for Maurice Colby. He also worked as a salesman for both Millar Supply and Peck Company. Later, he became manager a Fred’s Plumbing and Heating and then worked inside sales at FW Webb until his retirement.

Dan had a sharp sense of humor and he had a smile that could not be forgotten. He was one of the most giving people taking from himself to make sure others had what they needed. He enjoyed bird hunting and fishing, especially brook fishing with his sons.  He loved spending time with his Family, and was an amazing “papa” and “Grandpa". His newest pastime was golf.  He dreamed of building his own home and it meant a lot to him to realize his dream by assisting his son, Eric, in doing just that. Dan was deeply religious. He was a long time member of the Living Waters Assembly of God. Holidays were always a huge event and he looked so forward to watching everyone enjoy spending time with each other. Family was everything to him.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Demers of Lyndonville; his sons: Eric Demers and wife, Brooke, of St. Johnsbury, and Craig Demers and wife, Julie, of Danville; four brothers: Guy “Frenchy” Demers of Lyndonville, Pierre Demers of New Mexico, Michael Demers of Pembroke, NH, and Romulad “Rome" Demers of St. Johnsbury; a sister: Madeleine Smith of New Mexico; four grandchildren: Emily and Garrett, Hailey and Hannah; Many nieces and nephews and his girls:  (shitzus) Abby and Emma.
