Dana Fontaine

February 23, 1952 — June 11, 2016

Dana E. Fontaine, age 64 of Lyndonville, VT, passed away on June 11, 2016 after a four year battle with cancer.  Dana and her husband, Leo A. Fontaine of Greensboro Bend, VT met in her hometown of Coventry, CT in 1968 and married in 1969.  They started a pool business, Oasis Pools, shortly thereafter and eventually settled in Windham where they raised their three children, Laura, Roderick known to his family as “Buddy”, and Rodney.  The business grew along with the family and a pool store was added in 1978 which was managed by Dana until 2000 when the couple retired and moved back to the Lyndonville, VT area.

Dana Fontaine was born Dana Woodman in Claremont, N.H. on February 23, 1952. She moved to Eastern CT in 1955 where she was raised and eventually met her husband.   She is the second of a family of five sisters.  She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Woodman, her sister Dixie and husband Andy D’Appollonio, her sister Susan Woodman, sister Lynn and husband Mark Cataldi, and sister Lori and husband Jaime Maldonado.   Dana is survived by her husband of 47 years, Leo A. Fontaine, age 69 and his surviving four sisters and three brothers.  Dana leaves behind a daughter-in-law Michele, grandson, Ethan and granddaughter Mackenzie, as well as ten nephews and ten nieces.

Dana’s life has touched deeply every person in her family, her church, those she supervised in her business   and many others as she walked through life.  She was a woman of deep faith and conviction that the Lord Jesus Christ was her savior and her Lord and she endeavored to share her faith with others in every aspect of her life.  She is deeply loved and missed by the family and friends she has left behind.  Her mother Mary and sister Lori sent a note to her husband shortly before her passing that comforted him with the words “We are not without hope.  The last breath here is the first breath in heaven, life eternal with no more suffering.  Take comfort in knowing she is only gone from us for a brief time.”

Leo welcomes people to stop by his home at 386 Stannard Mountain Road, South Wheelock, Vt between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.

There will be a memorial celebration for Dana in August at a time to be announced.  People interested in attending are asked to contact Michele Fontaine at MLFontaine1970@yahoo.com or by phone at 860-461-5734.   The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Caladonia Home and Hospice and in particular to Dr. Ready and hospice nurse Sarah Neilen.  They ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Caledonia Home Health Care and Hospice, 161 Sherman Dr., St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
