Cleveland C. Fassett, Jr., age 62, of Back Center Road, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at home Tuesday morning, August 21, 2018.
Jr. was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on January 31, 1956, son to Ann Lois (Ruggles) and the late Cleveland Cleon Fassett, Sr. He grew up in Lyndonville and West Danville, VT, going to graded school in Lyndonville, Danville and then Lyndon Institute. At the age of 13 he started work mowing lawns and as he grew older moved in to carpentry and working in the woods. He was good at all he did and could make anything he wanted and fix almost everything. Carpentry was his career most of his life, but he worked also as grounds maintenance at Lyndon Institute and most recently as a mechanic for the St. Johnsbury Country Club. Junior’s main thing was work for the simple reason that he enjoyed working. He loved his garden, enjoyed hunting and fishing and games of cribbage. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn A. (Dwyer), his mother: Ann L. Fassett, 2 sons: David Fassett and Luke Fassett, all of Lyndonville, a step-son: Bruce Dwyer (Jen & children) of Passumpsic, brother: Ronald Fassett (Nancy) of Anchorage, AK, 3 sisters: Margaret “Peggy” Powers (Bob) of Gilford, NH, Nancy Berry of Sheffield, Rose Ramsdell (Pete) of Newport, VT, a brother-in-law: Walt Dwyer (Lynn) of Lyndonville, a sister-in-law: the Rev. Barbara Dwyer of Lyndonville, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a twin brother prior to birth, 2 brothers: Richard and Robert Fassett, 5 brothers-in-law: Gayland Berry, Reginald Dwyer, Kenneth (& Helen) Dwyer, Ronnie Dwyer, Stephen Dwyer, and a sister-in-law: Lois Noyes (& Lawrence).
A Graveside Service will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the William Dexter Cemetery in Sheffield with the Rev. Barbara Dwyer officiating. A reception will follow at the Lyndonville VFW on Hill Street. There will be no calling hours.
