St. Johnsbury. VT: Charles Damon Stanford, age 81, of New Boston Road, went to his heavenly reward on Monday January 20, 2025, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
Charles was born on February 19, 1943, son to the late Ray and Elizabeth (Kiniry) Stanford in Bellows Falls, VT. He was raised and educated in Wilder, VT, graduating from Hartford High School in the Class of 1961 and joined the U.S. Navy that year serving until 1965. He was on a battleship during the Cuban Missile Crisis and worked as a Hospital Corpsman. This position set him on a path for his working career as he went on to become an Orthopedic Medical Technician. He later worked for Dartmouth College in the press and publication unit until its closing. Chuck was a great photographer and blacksmith, enjoyed camping, gardening and flowers. He played guitar and sang and was in a band for several years. Chuck was a Good Man.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Pamela Passut-Stanford of St. Johnsbury, 3 sons: Mark Stanford of Columbia, NH, Mathew Stanford of Hookset, NH, and Jeffrey Stanford (Dawn) of Dunbarton, NH, 3 stepchildren: Tracey Billings (Terry) of St. Johnsbury, Jeremy Passut (Tamara) of Lawton, OK, Christine Carlson (Rick) of Chester, NH, 2 siblings: Raymond Stanford (Susan) of Enfield, NH, Gail Stanford (Pete) of Hartford, VT, 8 grandchildren: Joshua & Jackson, Alex, Dylan & Nicole, Kyle, Jessica & Sage and 8 great-grandchildren.
Chuck was predeceased by former wife of 16 years: Helen (Mitchell) Stanford, and by his sister: Sheila Roberts.
