Catherine Pearl (Baird) Simpson, 86, formerly of Lyndonville passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the HPH Hospice Center in Brooksville, Florida with her son, Edward, and daughter-in-law, Nancy present.
Catherine was born to Walter and Ellen (Magoon) Baird on March 8, 1932 in East Burke, VT. She graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1950. On May 4, 1950, she married Wendell P. Simpson. Catherine was the co owner and operator of Wendell Simpson Antique’s. She worked at the Pine Knoll Nursing Home for several years and also sat with elderly local residents for home care. She enjoyed traveling, helping others and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren brought her much joy.
Catherine is survived by her sons: Lawrence Simpson and wife Kathleen of Lyndon and Edward Simpson and wife Nancy of Weeki Wachee, FL: her brother; Richard Baird and wife Alice of East Lyndon: three grandchildren; Daniel, April and Holly; a great grandson, Roland: many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband: Wendell Simpson; her parents: Walter and Ellen Baird; her in laws: Perley and Pearl Simpson; a brother: Roland Baird and wife Roberta; her sisters: Marion Wallace and husband Dale, Ruth Southhouse and husband Paul, Gladys Aldrich and husband Kenneth and Eunice Bishop and husband Marvin: her in laws; Lois Gaskin and husband Frank, Eleanor Hart and Edith Simpson.
A Graveside Service will take place in the Woodmont Cemetery in East Burke, VT on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 11:00am with John Sleeper officiating. There will be no visiting hours but a private family viewing will take place at the Guibord Funeral Home in Lyndonville, VT from 9-10am just prior to the burial.
