Mrs. Catherine A. (Cyr) Hagan of Crow Hill in St. Johnsbury passed away peacefully at The Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, N.H., Saturday evening, April 25, 2015, at the age of 94.
She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Oct. 18, 1920, the daughter of Albert and Lyda (Wheeler) Cyr. Her husband, Francis 'Frank' Hagan, passed away Dec. 24, 2004, after 63 years of marriage; they were married May 25, 1941.
The Hagans returned to St. Johnsbury after living five years in California in the early 1950s. They raised their family up on Crow Hill where she loved to garden, watch the wildlife, and feed the birds. It was a good place to raise the family. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish/St. John the Evangelist Church.
She is survived by five of her six children: son John Hagan and wife Marie of St. Johnsbury, son Frank Hagan and wife Evelyn of Bethlehem, daughter Cathy Light and husband Harry of McLean, Va., daughter Barbara Pattison and husband Joseph of Oley, Pa., daughter Vivian Cullen and husband Robert of Tucson, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren: Michael, Karl, and Carolyn; Shaun, Micah, Wayne, and Christa; Matthew, Katie, and Connor; Jessica and Andrew; her nine great-grandchildren; all her nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her husband Frank, she was predeceased by an infant son Richard; two brothers: Bernard Cyr in 1999, a brother Richard as a young boy, and a close cousin Paul who was raised as her brother.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening, April 30, from 6-8 p.m.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Johnsbury Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. Cremation will follow the Mass with family committal services later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
