Catherine “Tickle” Ciattoni, 95, of St. Johnsbury, Vt. passed away at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital following a period of declining health; she had been residing at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center since October.
Catherine was born in St. Johnsbury on September 1, 1923 to Peter and Angelina (Paino) Ciattoni. She attended school in St. Johnsbury and then the Pennsylvania School for the Blind. Except for that time, she lived here all of her life spending her entire adult life in her one family house which she greatly appreciated. Catherine was caregiver for her blind brother until his death.
Catherine was a long time participant of the Riverside Life Enrichment Center in Lyndonville. She accompanied her brother there until his death and afterwards continued attending on her own. She attended Vermont Blind Association meetings. She enjoyed Bingo, socializing, and music including harmonica, piano, organ and guitar. Catherine loved cats.
Survivors include her sister: Angelina Simpson; her niece: Lucy Prohaska; and her great niece: Kyle Prohaska. She was predeceased by her brothers: Vincent Ciattoni, a casualty of WWII, and Joseph Ciattoni.
The family is very grateful for the years of support received from Caledonia Home Health and Hospice.
Friends may call on the family Friday, January 18, 2019, 5-7PM, at Sayles Funeral Home on Summer Street in St. Johnsbury, VT.
Burial will be in the spring at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 10AM, Friday, May 10, 2019.
