Lyndonville, VT: Carlene Ann Briggs, age 84, of Passumpsic Street, passed peacefully with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer Monday evening, July 15, 2024, at her home in Lyndonville.
Carlene was born on February 2, 1940, in Lyndon, VT, daughter to the late Percy Fred and Reta A. (Berry) Lynaugh. She was a lifelong resident and longtime member of the Lyndon Center Baptist Church. She worked at RCT and as the Nutritionist at UVM Extension Services for 25 years, from 1970-1995. She had the biggest heart which reflected the faith she had in her Lord Jesus. Carlene would clothe and feed anyone in need with no regard for her own circumstance. She married Robert L. Briggs on July 4, 1988, loved cooking and hosting family gatherings, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and celebrating life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Bob Briggs of Lyndonville, her 4 daughters: Brenda Densmore Gale of Milton, VT, Lori MacFarland (Hugh) of Lyndonville, Judy Isham of Lyndonville, Gertrude Lowry (Reginald) of Surprise, AZ, a sister: Cynthia Johnson (Keith) of Lyndonville, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren with many more that called her Grammy.
She was predeceased by her father, Percy in 1981, her mother, Reta, in 1997, her brother: Carlton F. Lynaugh in 2022, her 2 sons: Percy C. Densmore in 1999, Ricky A. Densmore in 2018, and 2 grandchildren: Jacob D. Isham in 2017 and Carlene D. Densmore in 2018.
Friends may call on the family from 5-7PM Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home, 15 Main Street in Lyndonville. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Friday, July 19th at the Lyndon Center Baptist Church on College Street in Lyndonville with the Rev. Joel Stoddert officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Lyndon Center Cemetery, with the reception to be announced.
Carlene strongly supported the Lyndon Center Baptist Church, H.O.P.E., and the Food Shelf to name a few. Please contribute to a charity of your choice in her name.
