Brian L. Christman

Brian L. Christman, 75, of St. Johnsbury, VT passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at his residence.   Brian was born September 17, 1948, to Leonard and Elizabeth Christman in Kingston, NY.  As a young child he moved to New Hampshire with his family, and in his late teens made his home in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Brian had a lifelong passion for automobiles and guns, which led him to start his own businesses, Christman’s Automotive and Matt’s Place in Passumpsic, VT.  He would enjoy many years working on his customers’ cars, along with repairing and selling guns and ammo. After he closed the businesses, he spent his remaining working years performing maintenance in both the private and corporate sectors.

Brian enjoyed two stints driving race cars. He first started racing in the mid-70s at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH, and returned to Riverside Speedway in the late-90s racing with two of his children, Dan and Calley.  He and Dan finished racing at the White Mountain Motorsports Park in Woodstock, NH in the early-2000s.  He took great pride in building his race cars, and almost every one of his cars “placed” in the car shows at the beginning of each race season. (As a side note: he wasn’t shy about a street race every now and then either!)

He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Betty, his brother Dennis, and his sister Gail.  He is survived by a long-time partner Ms. Diane Hill, son Dan (Jeri) Christman, daughter Calley (Rick) Hanks, daughter Connie Weed (Jamie Lamont), son Matthew Christman, granddaughters Sara Despins, Brittney Christman-Baker, Ryian Christman, Talor Weed, and Falicia Christman, grandsons Justin Benton and Jadin Weed, great-granddaughters Nikole Benton, Harlie Hill, and Ryah Baker, great-grandsons Chase Mallet, Dillon Benton, and Corbin Mallet.
