It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Kay Darling on August 18, 2024. Born and raised in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Bonnie graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, and her life was marked by a deep love for her family and the simple joys of nature. A true Wordle enthusiast, Bonnie also had a passion for loon watching and was actively involved in a committee dedicated to protecting the loons on Newark Pond. She cherished every moment spent on the pond with her husband, and she found immense joy in being a grandmother.
Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Mathew Darling of Newark, VT; her daughter, Kaytlyn Hope, her husband Reverend Christopher Hope, and their son Asher Hope of Boston, MA; her son, Daniel Darling, his partner Tricia Fortier, and children Harper Darling, Mathew Darling, and Bella Wright of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Dalton, MA; her mother, Sheila Bugbee of St. Johnsbury, VT; her sister, Karen Bugbee of St. Johnsbury, VT; and her niece, Bridget Bouchard, her husband Jamie Bouchard, and their children Jake and Bailey of Berwick, ME. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family members.
Bonnie was predeceased by her father, Alton Bugbee, and her siblings Brenda and Lynn Bugbee.
A graveside service to honor Bonnie’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11 am at the Hillside Cemetery in Burke Hollow, VT. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time of grief.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent in Bonnie’s name to the West Burke United Methodist Church, 114 Church St. West Burke, VT 05871.
