Lyndon, VT: Betty Lou Shatney, age 64, of Memorial Drive passed away December 8, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Betty was born in Newport, VT, on September 3, 1951, daughter to the late Harry Sargent, Sr. and Ruth (Mackley) Sargent. She was raised and educated in Newport and St. Johnsbury. She enjoyed cooking and baking and worked for over 19 years in the kitchen at NVRH.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Edward E. Shatney; her children: Nancy Pray of Lyndonville, Teresa Bryant of Newport, Tammy Verge of Newport, Angel Dresser of W. Charleston, Rachel Allen of Lyndonville, Samantha Shatney of NH, Alyssa Jack of TN, Kara Shatney of WI, Britney Shatney of Lyndonville; grandchildren: Brian Pray of Barton, Megan Gero of St. Johnsbury, Kyla Boutin of St. Johnsbury; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son: Leo Sargent and siblings: Linda Carroll, Harry Sargent, Jr. and Shirley Sargent.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
