Bernard Hagan

July 29, 1965 — October 16, 2024

Bernard Hagan

Bernard M. Hagan passed away on October 16th in one of his favorite spots in the world, his recliner. He was born on July 29th, 1965, in St. Johnsbury, VT and was the third child born to Michael and Joyce (Prue) Hagan. He attended East Concord and Concord Schools and graduated from CHS in 1985. Bernie continued his education at CCV and graduated summa cum laude with his Associates in Arts. He was a proud member of the Army National Guard, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and was a member at the American Legion Post #30.

He married Sandra Simonds on Valentines Day in 1986 - a date he choose so he would never forget it. They welcomed four children: Cory, Ashley, BJ, and Katrina. They built their family home in Lunenburg, and later moved to North Concord where Bernie spent much of his time doing home improvement projects and tackling his seemingly never-ending honey-do list.

Throughout his life, Bernie worked a number of different jobs - he was a man who had to work with his hands. He worked for the State of Vermont with the Agency of Transportation for 25 years and soon after retirement found a love for working with his oldest son making chocolates at Burke Mountain Confectionery.

While he very much looked like an adult on the outside, during his downtime you could almost always find him building something with his Lego’s.

Bernie was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Theresa and Susan. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sandy Hagan, four children: Cory and wife Ally Hagan, Ashley Hagan(Allen Willson), BJ Hagan (Pearl Harrison), Katrina and husband Kasey Collins, and eight (almost 9) grandchildren: Jaylin, Allison, Luna, Landon, Kennedy, Kassidy, Everett, Elliot and soon to be Kamden. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Bill Sargent.

A celebration of life will be held at the St. Johnsbury Elks Lodge, Western Avenue, St. J on October 25, 2024, at 2 PM. A short service will be followed by light refreshments and of course the bar will be open. Please join us in casual attire to reminisce and tip one back in honor of his life.
