Ben Lyons

June 9, 2003 — July 7, 2024

St. Johnsbury, VT: Ben Patrick Lyons, 21 of Cottage Street, lost his life on Sunday July 7th, 2024, from injuries he incurred while protecting his family from an attack that happened in their home that morning. Ben selflessly intervened without hesitation, a true hero.

Ben was born on June 9, 2003, in Burlington, VT to Jennifer Mae Bradley and Kevin James Lyons.

He was raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and attended school primarily in Cabot, Plainfield, and Saint Johnsbury. He attended the St. Johnsbury Academy for his first three years of high school, and ultimately graduated from Danville HS in 2021.

He matriculated from there to VTSU Lyndon, in pursuit of a Music Business and Industry degree with dreams of becoming a Music Producer. Ben was crushing his goals and was proud to have achieved high honors making the Presidents List his fall semester, and Dean's List his Spring semester.

Ben had a love of music and a strong taste for Rap and Hip-Hop but had recently been expanding his scope to more genres including classical music, and even began learning how to play the piano.

Ben's other hobbies included hunting, fishing, gaming, crushing a bag of freeze-dried Skittles, spending time with his family, and basketball. He loved to talk about the NBA, his favorite players, stats, and predict outcomes of the draft or the playoffs. He was also an amazing athlete himself and a force on the court, especially when it came to his crazy dunks and blocks. Pulling pranks was an ongoing pastime, and being the class clown, he would go to great lengths for a smile or a laugh. One of his most frequent conversation starters was "wouldn't it be funny if..." and it always was.

It was always obvious when Ben was around and one could find him easily by following the sound of his loud clapping, his speakers blasting, or his raptor screeches, IYKYK. Ben loved life, laughter, his family and had a deep love for his dogs, Marley, Sage, and Wilson, and his cats, Gizmo and Milo.

He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Bradley and her husband Patrick Mayhew of Saint Johnsbury, VT. His father, Kevin Lyons, of Lyndonville VT. His best friend and love, Izzy Clow of Greenwood, IN. His sister, Anna Lyons of McIndoe Falls, VT. His brothers, Connor (CJ) Lyons and Chase Johnson of Saint Johnsbury, VT. His maternal Grandparents, Susan Bradley and Reg Welcome of Whitefield, NH. Gregg Bradley and his wife Carol Meers of Plainfield, VT. His paternal Grandmother, Kaye Lyons of Milton, VT. His Aunts and Uncles Jamin Bradley of Northfield, VT, Elijah Tebbetts of South Burlington, VT, Kerry Lyons and his partner Kristin Cutler and Danielle Lyons of Milton, VT. Cousins, Jayden and Keegan Bradley and William Lyons all of Milton, VT. He was pre-deceased by his paternal Grandfather, Jim Lyons of Milton, VT.
