Barbara Shontell

Barbara May Shontell, age 69, of Lyndon, VT and formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT and Laconia, NH, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

Barbara was born in Franklin, NH, on November 13, 1947 to William and Florence (Gilson) Preston.  She was raised and educated in Laconia, NH attending Laconia High School. She spent her time as a homemaker taking care of her home and her children.  Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo and doing crafts.  She was a past member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Laconia. Barbara wasn’t just a mother and grandmother…..she was a best friend.

She is survived by three children, sons: William F. Cross and wife, Marie, of Stanstead, QC and Arthur White and wife, Tina, of Lyndonville, VT; and daughter: Tammy Paquin of Laconia, NH; a brother: William Preston of NH; two sisters: Helen Morrill and husband, George, of NH and Ginger Nelson and husband, Donald, of Belmont, NH; 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by Shirley Preston.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband: John Shontell; and a young son: Samuel White.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday November 4, 2017, at the Bayside Cemetery, 1350 Union Avenue in Laconia, NH. There will be no Calling Hours.
