Barbara Bright Hubbard, 88, of Brown Farm Road in Lyndonville, VT, died on April 6, 2019, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab in St. Johnsbury, VT.
She was born in Newark, NJ on December 14, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Clark) Bright. She graduated from Allegheny High School in Cumberland, MD and then attended Duke University before graduating from Pennsylvania State University, with a BA in Home Economics. Barbara received her MA in Library Science from Southern CT State University in 1991. She was a member of Delta Gamma Social Sorority, Glee club and the Hayden Choir at Pennsylvania State University. As a paraprofessional, she worked in the Library at the Academy Street elementary school in Madison, CT. Barbara was active with the Daughters of the American Revolution and with the First Congregational Church of Madison, CT, for over 40 years. She enjoyed music and sang with numerous choirs including, Handel Choir of Baltimore, the New Haven Chorale, and she toured Europe with the Capella Cantorum of Deep River, CT. Barbara loved Rough Collies and became a Certified Pet Therapist with their collie, Laddie. She was a Girl Scout Leader and an accomplished seamstress. Barbara was also very talented and enjoyed arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John Hubbard; her son: Stimpson (Jane) of Wilmington, MA; three daughters: Kathryn Daley (Dan), Deborah Hubbard (Tammy) of Lakewood, CO and Elizabeth Bennett (David) of Windsor, VT; 5 grandchildren: Connor, Cameron, Savannah, Maxwell, and Kaeli, and 2 great grandchildren; Addyson and Willow.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Beatrice Kelley.
A memorial service will take place at the First Congregational Church of Lyndonville on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 11AM am with the Rev. Bruce Cominsky officiating.
There will be no Calling Hours.
