Mrs. Arlene Hubbard of Danville passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at the age of 103.
She was born in Kirby, Vermont on Sept. 20, 1911, the daughter of Carl and Maude (Hill) Ailes. Her husband Clarence predeceased her 1983; they were married Aug. 30, 1933.
Arlene graduated as valedictorian from Phillips Academy in Danville and the Lyndon Normal School. She taught for two years at the one room school house in the Tampico section of Danville.
She was a member of the North Danville Baptist Church and had served as church treasurer. She helped organize the North Danville Community Club, was a member of the Ladies Home Dem group and a 4-H leader, and volunteered at The Open Door.
She is survived by her three daughters: Sylvia Harvey of Lyndon, Carol Shay and husband Tim of Belchertown, Mass., Gloria Tillotson and husband Michael of Peacham; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews Glenn and Robert, and a niece Virginia, and all her caretakers.
Services will be held this Friday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the North Danville Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Robert H. Sargent officiating.
