Ann Marie Laferriere, age 91, formerly of Green Street, passed away at NVRH, on Monday morning, September 19, 2016, following a brief decline. She had resided at the Pines in Lyndonville since July of 2015.

Ann was born in Littleton, NH on January 22, 1925, daughter to the late Joseph and Lillian (Ziter) Toney. She was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury, graduating from St. Johnsbury Academy in the Class of 1944. She spent most of her working life in her gift shop on Hastings Hill, The Country Gift Shop, which she had for over 37 years. She was extremely active in the community being a member of the Board of Civil Authorities, Justice of the Peace for over 70 years and a staunch member of the Democratic Town Party. She was married to Arthur Laferriere for over 47 years when he passed on July 6, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter: Michelle Laferriere and her partner, Evelyn Burke, of Bethel, CT, her eldest brother: Eddie Toney of St. Johnsbury, her nieces: Maureen Webster and husband, Gordon, of St. Johnsbury, Lillian Swainbank and husband, Jodi, of St. Johnsbury, and nephews: Paul Toney and wife, Gloria, of Waterford and Johnny Laferriere and his family also of St. Johnsbury and also many more nieces and nephews from Arthur’s side.

Friends may call on the family from 11AM-1PM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury. A prayer Service will be held at the funeral home following calling hours and burial will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on St. Johns Street in St. Johnsbury. Memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s name to the American Heart Association, 110 Main Street Suite 203, Burlington, VT, 05401.
