Angelo Incerpi

Danville, VT: Angelo Incerpi, age 77, died unexpectedly while working in his barn on Saturday, December 30, 2017.

Angelo was born in Providence, RI on July 10, 1940, son to the late Alfred and Marguerite (Zamperini) Incerpi.  He was raised in Pawtucket, RI graduating from Moses Brown School with the Class of 1958.  He began his post-secondary education at the University of Idaho (Moscow) and later transferred to the University of Maine (Orono) and received a B.S. degree in Wildlife & Fisheries Management in 1963.  Angelo married Virginia A. Ricciarelli on June 15, 1963 and shared over 54 years of marriage together.  He worked as a Fisheries Biologist in Maine until moving to Danville, VT in 1967 to work for the State of Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department where he was employed until his retirement as Director of Operations in 2002.  He was a brother with Tau Kappa Epsilon and a lifetime Mason with the Pioneer Lodge #72 A.F. & A.M in Ashland, ME.

He was active in numerous professional and local organizations promoting fishery and wildlife management, he believed strongly in the encouragement of youth in the outdoors.  He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman and overall outdoor enthusiast.  He spent many hours tying flies and doing fine woodcarving which he generously would donate to raise money for wildlife & habitat conservation.  He was an avid BMW motorcyclist and served on the Motorcycle Advisory Committee for the VT DMV.  He was currently a Danville Selectboard member and served on the Planning Commission.  He served many years on the Board of Directors for the Bird Museum of Vermont.

He was elected into the “National Fisheries Hall of Excellence” and received recognition as an exemplary cooperator of the Vermont Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit, US Department of the Interior Geological Services.  This spring he will be awarded the Northeast Fisheries Administrators Association Career Achievement Award.  He is the first ever recipient of this award which will be named in his honor as the “Angelo Incerpi Conservation Award for Lifetime Achievement”.

He was an active member and leader in the American Fisheries Society (AFS) nationally and within the Northeast Division (US/Canada).  AFS is dedicated to strengthening the fisheries profession, advancing science and conserving fisheries resources.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia of Danville, 3 daughters: Filomena Kersey and husband Greg of Hartford, VT, Marianne Brunetto and husband Scott of Hinesburg and Danville, VT, Christina Incerpi and husband Randy Bean of Williston, VT, a brother: Albert Incerpi and wife Mary of Punta Gorda, FL, a sister-in-law: Diane Heon and husband Edward of Pawtucket, RI, a cousin: Raymond Hamilton of N. Smithfield, RI, 2 grandchildren: David and Gina Kersey, many nieces and nephews and his hunting dog Rusty.

Calling hours will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street in St. Johnsbury.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 6th at the Danville Congregational Church on Hill Street in Danville with Rev. Douglass Carter officiating.  Burial will take place in the spring at the Danville Green Cemetery on May 25, 2018 at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department, Angelo Incerpi Memorial Fund to Support Vermont Conservation Camps for youth.  Checks can be made out to VT Fish & Wildlife and mailed to their offices to the attention of Susan Warner at 1 National Life Drive, Davis 2, Montpelier, Vermont 05620-3702.
